About the Project, Position, and Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Java/React Developer to join our team, focusing on developing commercial products in the Cloud. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience.
What you’ll do:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications for cloud-based platforms.
- Implement and manage front-end components using React to create seamless user experiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing commercial products in the Cloud.
- Strong proficiency in Java (major) and significant real-world experience with React (minor).
- Solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and web services integration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

The Core UX Web team is looking for a customer-focused, creative, full-stack web engineer for a one-year period to help build, support, and scale our products. Our team is dedicated to a variety of products and services to ensure a consistent user experience across our website. We handle everything from maintaining consistent navigation to standardizing our typeahead functionality and building and scaling our Design System. Additionally, we maintain the homepage to welcome travelers and support our trip planning tools.

What you’ll do:
- Code! Our engineers focus on doing what they enjoy most and do best, writing code. We build our front-ends in Typescript, React and GraphQL. We build our service code using Java, Kotlin, and NodeJS.
- Take responsibility for all aspects of software engineering, including design, implementation, QA, and maintenance and monitoring.
- Learn about release management in addition to working with the code.
- Collaborate closely with Product teams to define feature specifications and develop high quality deliverables for our customers.
- Collaborate closely with our Designers to improve and scale our design system - the internal library of design components used by every team.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams and product areas to help enable and support feature launches.
- Provide operational support and triage issues with our services.
- Provide support to designers and engineer stakeholders who want to use or make changes to our design system.
- Help us migrate some of our existing architecture and services to AWS
Requirements:
- 3+ years of web development experience using Typescript, React, and GraphQL - many of the features you work on will require advanced knowledge of CSS as well.
- 1+ years of experience with either Java, Kotlin, or NodeJS
- Candidates should be familiar with https://web.dev/baseline/overview and browser support of features in general.
- Candidates should be familiar with the main service offerings of AWS and how they are deployed
- High quality verbal and written communication skills. You will be working with many stakeholders across many different products.
- Ability to break down complex problems into simple solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and desire to deliver clean, well-supported, efficient code and systems.

As a Software Engineer II, you will independently develop features in support of our products across all layers of the stack. You will be responsible for designing relational databases, microservices, APIs, and interactive user interfaces.
Through your work you will grow expertise in one or more technologies and share your learnings with your team. You will be responsible for testing the software you write and will maintain your features once released. As a Software Engineer II, you will actively provide code reviews to your peers, ensuring that team standards and best practices are adhered to. Similarly, you will actively seek feedback from your peers and promote a collaborative and fast-paced engineering culture.
As a Software Engineer II, you’ll help us:
- Design and implement the technical solutions for projects
- Work closely with our product and design teams to define feature specifications
- Be responsible for the quality of code you ship
- Actively provide feedback on best practices and design patterns to your peers in the form of code reviews
- Develop, deploy and maintain full stack implementations of owner and consumer-facing features
- Be responsible for all aspects of software engineering, from design to implementation, QA, operations and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years of large scale, full life cycle development experience
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO design
- Experience building microservices, event-driven and domain-oriented architectures
- Experience with full stack web development in JavaScript and Java. The team develops with JavaScript/React, Java, Tomcat, Linux, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Snowflake, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka
- Cloud Platform experience (AWS) desired
