Our project is to create a desk booking application for a client that has about 3,500 users and over 40 offices. The application will be on the desktop and as an iOS application. The technical stack will be two front ends iOS and a React website. The backend will be in node.js with options to use Typescript.

This is a multi-phase project with the MVP due within 5 months and a backlog of scope outside the MVP that is considerable.Our projectis an American publicly traded advertising company. The company consists of five major networks, as well as a number of independent specialty agencies in the areas of public relations, sports marketing, talent representation, and healthcare. It is one of the “Big Four” agency companies, alongside WPPPublicis and Omnicom.

Let's talk about You:

  • At least 4 years of experience in software development and design
  • 4+ years expertise with Node.js

    Full stack engineering on our SEO (search engine optimization) team means deep participation in our web framework development, iterative testing, analytics, monitoring and data science on our massive quantity of data. You will also help our team of SEO analysts explore the large datasets using both inhouse tools and off-the-shelf analytics software.         We’re looking for a mid-level front-end developer to maintain and support an existing React/Typescript app which is built on top of GCP/Firebase. This is primarily a maintainer role expected to work within an existing app infrastructure / design system, not an architect role.               • 8. Provide knowledge transfer and proper hand-over for all deliverables in the formof thorough documentation and curated training sessions where applicable:

                  • 2. Build out cost prevention and monitoring measures within our cloud data platform topology, which includes S3, Athena, EMR, EKS, SageMaker, and Snowflake
                  • 3. With collaboration of in-house data engineering leads, migrate on-premises Hadoop workloads to our new cloud data platform, which is built on both AWS and Snowflake. The migration will avoid lift and shift as much as possible and instead will undergo a domain decomposition exercise
                  • a. Build domain-driven data pipelines using our in-house data tool stack for orchestration, dependency management and lineage
                  • b. Port on-premises hive-SQL data workloads to supported SQL dialects and technologies: Spark-SQL, Trino, Snowflake
                  • c. Migrate on-premises Spark workloads to AWS
                  • d. Optimize the cost profile for cloud-based workloads where possible
                  • 4. Help migrate in-house based tooling applications from an on-premises data center to AWS. We have a mix of Kubernetes applications, web-based Java applications running on VMs.
                  • 5. Provide expert-level cost optimization guidance and oversight for big data workloads in our cloud data platform, including: Snowflake, Athena, S3, EMR/Spark, SageMaker, EKS
                  • 6. Provide cloud expertise on cost-optimized data archiving strategies and help build out or onboard tooling capable of enforcing defined retention policies across our cloud data platform data stack
                  • 7. Help provide operational support for our data infrastructure, data toolkits, and data pipelines
                  • 8. Provide knowledge transfer and proper hand-over for all deliverables in the form of thorough documentation and curated training sessions where applicable
                  • a. Documentation should include items like design docs, tests plans, and operational runbooks
                  • b. Training sessions should include guided design discussions and operational walk-throughs
                  • 9. Build out a pod capable of executing against all items captured in the statement of work. Provide managerial assistance for directing staff and providing execution oversight

As a travel guidance company available in 43 markets and 22 languages, our project makes planning easy no matter the trip type.

                    We are looking to staff a pod of highly skilled senior level software engineers with a passion for big data operations, a deep understanding of both software development and the *nix environment and experience with multiple technologies in the Hadoop ecosystem.

                    The ideal candidate will have experience with Hadoop, Hive, or MPP database platforms and experience running these environments supporting multiple internal teams.

                     

                    Let's talk about You:

                    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
                    • 5+ years experience in commercial software development
                    • Ability to break down complex problems into simple solutions
                    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proven interpersonal skills and ability to convey key insights from complex analyses in summarized business terms; Ability to effectively communicate with technical teams
                    • In-depth experience and hands-on knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, and related open source technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Kafka, Samza, and Yarn
                    • Experience with Apache Hadoop ecosystem applications: Hadoop, Hive, Oozie, Presto, Hue, Spark, Zeppelin and more!
                    • Strong understanding of distributed systems and distributed computation
                    • Deployment automation experience with scripting, puppet, ansible, etc.

                    • We are seeking 2x Senior Hadoop Engineers from Encora
                    • The pod will have a “follow the sun” pager rotation, so we are looking for the Encora engineers to be ahead of Eastern time. Range: UTC+2 to UTC+6
                    • TA will provide a technical lead for this pod
                    • The pod will be managed by a Tripadvisor manager

                    • Deploy features that will make it easier to service and operate the cluster, such as:
                    • a. Using Ansible to automate taking nodes in and out of service to prevent memory leaks
                    • b. With collaboration of in-house data engineering leads, help with the effort to migrate on-premises Hadoop workloads to our new cloud data platform
